Today, I played a solo in church and messed it up bad - even Sariah noticed. Which made me think:How many mess-ups do I have in a day that others see, or more importantly, that I know are mess ups? and that count? At least the Lord gives us a chance to repent and try again.... not so easy when performing in public. This made me realize that I really do love my life, difficult as it may seem at times. Yes, I do get bogged down in the publicity of things - do I look good on the outside? is my house as clean and cute as others? can I make the children better by putting them in more activities? etc... and the list goes on... but ultimately, what matters most is what we do for others and how we spend our time. Bodies will age, houses will accumulate dust and things, children will eventually learn what their hearts lead them to.... but are we teaching them how to be better disciples of Christ? How to help others who have less or more than them? How to use their time to learn and practice principles of love and charity? I know this sounds deep, but really, what are we doing with our time? I know that I could be more productive. As I start getting back into a routine, I am striving to make myself a better server of others rather than myself.... These photos are memorable moments in our monotonous mirage of madness......
Since we had been gone so long, Cara invited us all over for a dessert get together....
The kids played Wii.
Us ladies ate cookies and gabbed
Elena and Tom joked and kidded around.
Jacob entertained us at the piano.
And I saved Cassidy's and Slade's butt by fixing the closet door.....
We had a great time! We didn't want to leave, but could tell we had worn out our welcome when Tom and Cara said that they needed to get to bed 'so leave already!'
I was born in Iran, raised in Australia, baptized in Denmark and now living with seven dwarfs (oops!) blessings and a wonderful husband in the United States of America.... but I still call Australia Home.
